Peugeot complementing winter tyres with Grip Control

Peugeot is urging new car buyers to consider its 3008 Crossover with Grip Control ahead of the winter season, as snow conditions have become more severe in recent years.

The new system aims to complement winter tyres by ensuring the safety of motorists and comes as standards on the 3008 SR Crossover or an optional extra on the 3008 Sport and Exclusive HDi 112 and 150 models.

Grip Control is billed as an "intelligent traction control system" that improves the vehicle's grip on difficult surfaces including snow, mud, dirt and wet grass without the increased weight and emissions that come with 4x4 systems.

To show off its new system, Peugeot sent its two-wheel drive 3008 Crossover up the one-in-three steep ski slope at Snowdome in Tamworth, an indoor snow-covered ski slope.

Morgan Lecoupeur, marketing director at Peugeot UK, said: "This has been a terrific exercise to demonstrate just how effective the Peugeot 3008 Grip Control is in winter conditions.

"It offers an ideal compromise for buyers looking for 4x4 capabilities but without the associated penalties in fuel economy and higher CO2."

The focus on winter driving conditions comes ahead of the start of October's Tyre Safety Month, which aims to cut down on the number of road accidents occurring in the winter months.

Das GripControl Paket ist vollkommen unnütz und bringt keinerlei Verbesserung beim 3008.
Wenn der Untergrund nicht mit macht und es glatt ist, bringt das System gar nichts, da der Schlupf der Vorderreifen trotzdem stattfindet. Hier hilft heutzutage ja schon das ESP und ASR.

Wenn auf derlei Strecken wirklich Haftung gefragt ist, geht nichts über einen echten 4WD.
Der HY4 kann da bestimmt für den Normalnutzer deutlich besser sein, als der Serien3008, auch wenns kein "echter" 4WD ist.

Reicht ja auch, wenn man nur einen kleinen Teil zitiert. Aber kein Grund zur Unruhe

Ich finde es witzig, dass jeder meint das Gripcontrol bringt überhaupt nix, was laut meinen letzten Winter getätigten Test nicht stimmt! Hat auch jeder echte Vergleiche angestellt?
Man darf nur nicht das Gripcontrol als Ersatz für einen Allrad sehen, denn da ist man klar im Nachteil. Wenn man jedoch zwei gleichwertige Fahrzeuge heranzieht merkt man schon einen Unterschied. Ich hatte es mit einem Arbeitskollegen letztes Jahr getestet. Beides 3008 2,0HDi (sogar auf den gleichen Winterreifen). Er ohne und ich mit Gripcontrol. In fast allen Vergleichssituationen hatte ich weniger "Stress" und bin eindeutig besser weggekommen. Ausnahme war das wegfahren auf reinem Eis und stark zusammengefahrener Schnee (eisähnlich). Da hatten wir beide keine Chance auch nur annähernd vom Fleck zu kommen.
Was man natürlich auf keinen Fall machen darf, sind die Allroundreifen drauflassen. Da müssen schon anständige Winterreifen her.
